Teresa Buscemi was born in El Salvador and raised on Long Island, New York. In 2007 she graduated from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where she received her BA in Studio Art while studying with photographer Robert ParkeHarrison. She received a scholarship in 2007 to attend Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and in 2008 earned her Post Baccalaureate Certificate. She is currently living in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is a candidate in the Photography MFA program and a recent recipient of the 2010 Clyde A. and Elizabeth R. Hill Endowed Scholarship.

Teresa has been working mainly with installation, sometimes incorporating the presentation of still images in a non-traditional photographic fashion. Her work is often subtle and asks the viewer to spend time with the piece in order for the work to fully reveal itself. When making work, she aims to engage the viewer facilitating a moment of surprise or enlightenment. One of the main goals in her work is to create an environment in which the audience can remove themselves from the real world to experience the piece and form a connection with the work.
